About Torque Coffee

Torque Coffees is a specialty coffee roaster and cafe in the historic Rock Palace building in City Heights, San Diego. Roasting since 2022, doors open since 2024.

We built Proportional Pricing so your coffee price ties to what happens at the farm: 20% of retail Remains at Origin, paid to the producer before the coffee ships.

We roast to bring out what each coffee already is, bright and light or deep and syrupy. Sweetness wins either way.

Coffee Review ranked us #9 in their Top 30 Coffees of the World for 2024, plus multiple Golden Bean North America medals.

I’d been meaning to check this coffee roastery out for a while, and I'm glad I finally did. The coffee had a really fresh taste that you can tell comes from quality beans, not just fancy branding. The person behind the counter took a minute to explain the different roasts without making it feel overwhelming. I grabbed a bag to brew at home, and it's been one of the better coffees I've had lately. The place has a relaxed vibe too, which made me want to hang around a little longer. Definately worth coming back for another bag.

Service and knowledge of baristas is top tier. I love all of the information and esp the financial transparency of their farm to cup pricing. I'd say the atmosphere is also welcoming and enjoyable. Bean/roast wise, we enjoyed the espresso and pour overs for their ability to be enjoyable stand alone. Very coffee forward shop if I must say so myself. While roasting your own beans became the "hot thing" to do, torque does it well. I can tell they are roasted with care. The savory goat cheese pop tart was amazing to me too. I recommend you try this place.

This place is a must stop. My favorite things are their mushroom & goat cheese empanada and Royal Ruzu. The staff are so friendly and they’re very community forward. They have an assortment of coffees you can buy and take home ranging from Costa Rica to Ethiopia. I’m stopping by here every time I visit San Diego!

Today I stopped by this coffee shop on my friend’s recommendation. We decided to try the coffee, and I had an iced latte. Honestly, I really enjoyed it β€” the coffee was great. They also have a large selection of coffee beans available for purchase β€” different kinds and sizes of Arabica beans you can brew at home. There are also lots of accessories and various drinks for sale. I liked the atmosphere. The only downside is that there aren’t many seats β€” just five small tables inside and a couple more outside. But overall, space was enough. The coffee truly stood out β€” high quality and delicious. One of the best I’ve had in the city. I’m happy to recommend this place to everyone. The service was quick and pleasant, and my overall experience was nothing but positive. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again.
